Overview

Eastern Democratic of Congo Sud and Nord Kivu bordering Republic of Rwanda offers Great Mountain & Lowland Gorilla Trekking at Virunga National Park and Kahuzi Biega National Park respectively.
Mount Nyiragongo an active stratovolcano with an elevation of 3,470 m in the Virunga Mountains associated with the Albertine Rift. It is located inside Virunga National Park, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, about 12 km north of Goma city and Lake Kivu and just west of the border with Rwanda.
On 22 May 2021, Mount Nyiragongo began erupting. As of 25 May, 32 people died as a result of the eruption and 1,000 homes were destroyed

Visa

Tourist Visa valid for 2 weeks is obtained at the point of entry on arrival. prior to your arrival a visa application form is completed and be submitted to DGM. A visa approval is sent back to you which you will printout and present it at the border for the visa to be issued. A yellow fever certificate and covid vaccination certificate are requirements. We encourage anyone visiting Eastern Democrtic Republic of Congo to fly into Kigali, Rwanda at Kigali International Airport. A multiple entry Rwandan Visa can be obtained on arrival or online which will be valid for the Rwanda entry and re-entry after your the gorilla trip in D.R.Congo
